Steam free game weekend: Shattered HorizonWant to try a shooter in zero gravity? Put your DirectX 10 box to the test? Well you are in luck. From June 4th - 6th you can play Futuremark® Games Studio's Shattered Horizon for free. The game does require a DirectX 10+ system, so no love for XP users. You can find out more on the game's official website.
Mac Steam has arrived! The official Steam client for OS X is finally here! Currently the titles are limited to the newest Civilization, Torchlight, Portal (which is free right now if you don't own it!), and a few Indy games. However Valve has promised to release new games each Wednesday. Here is hoping for Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead next week! Team Fortress 2 patchA new Team Fortress 2 patch is out. You can find out what all has changed on the Steam news page. The big thing that stood out to me was "Gave "Primeval Warrior" badge to anyone who played in the TF2 Beta prior to the official release". ![]() A bit late? Maybe, but I still thought it was a really nice touch! You can, of course, snag the patch just by launching Steam.
New 360 Game Room ContentMajor Nelson's twitter *shudder* reports that new games will be coming to the Xbox 360 Game Room tomorrow. Two he mentions by name are Super Breakout and Pitfall.
The Humble Indie BundleWant some great games for a price you name? Don't mind helping out PA's Child's Play and the EFF while you are at it? Then look no further! You can pick up World of Goo, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru, and Penumbra Overture for whatever you are willing to pay. The games come DRM free and you can even select how you want your payment split between the developers and charity organizations. Release dates!First off, StarCraft 2 finally has an official release date. The sequel to the 1998 RTS will arrive on July 27, 2010! Xbox 360 USB storage options?Joystick is showing what it claims to be the next Xbox 360 update. What is new in this one? Well, USB storage for one! Now this sounds awesome (in fact it IS awesome) but it does come with limits. No plugging in massive external hard drives instead of shelling out for Microsoft's insanely overpriced versions. You will, as of now, be capped at 16GB per device and a max of two used at once.
Nintendo DSi XLCNET has a nifty article on the Nintendo DSi XL complete with pictures. This looks like the first real DS revival I am interested in picking up for myself. The screen is "93%" larger and should go on sale in March for $190.
StarCraft II beta performancePerformance can change drastically from beta to gold, but if you are curious how well your gaming rig will run SC2, Legion Hardware has a fairly detailed performance writeup.
Another LAN bites the dust...The word over at Destructoid is not bird, but no. As in no LAN support for C&C4. Following StarCraft 2's lead, Tiberian Twilight will cut LAN play out in favor of an always connected 'cloud' for tracking stats and saves. You can get all the details here.
